In which I write an open letter to my bodyMay 7th, 2008 @ 7:01 am
Hi there. It’s just me. You know, the lady that keeps feeding you all the healthy food like ground turkey tacos with veggies on the side and homemade veggie pizzas.
I just wanted to check in and see how this past month doing Weight Watchers has been treating you. Have you missed the seven pounds you lost? Where do you think you lost them from? Do you think they came from your fingers, your thighs, or maybe your belly? (I hope they all came from your belly!)
I know you’ve been feeling good about your clothes fitting better. I know you’re super anxious to see if your summer clothes look better on you then they did last summer. I also know that you’ve been enjoying all the WW approved meals I’ve been cooking for you. Plus, those WW cups of ice cream are just plain awesome, agreed?!
It’s good to not feel completely horrified when you put on your bathing suit. I know you’re anxious for time on the beach this summer. I know you’re counting down the days until the local pools open up and you can put on one of your bikinis and not want to vomit at the sight of yourself.
So it sounds like we’re in agreement that this whole “lifestyle change” is a good thing. Am I right, or am I right?
I just have one question?
Why in the hell are you craving raw cookie dough constantly?!
Before we were on this whole eating better kick you never even liked chocolate chip cookies, let alone the raw dough. So what is it about healthy eating that makes you want to be so bad? Why can’t you crave lettuce. Or celery? Heck, I’ve even feel better about low fat popcorn, or Baked Layes.
But raw chocolate chip cookie dough.
Really?
So tell me, any of you have a secret recipe for a Weight Watchers approved, low fat cookie dough that won’t give me salmonella?

No recipes, but congrats on the loss! I wish I could be so disciplined - lately I have been pretty bad with eating healthy.

I doubt this fits in with WW but here is a link to a recipe for egg free cookie dough- maybe you can fit it in somehow?

Seven pounds! Way to go! I would try WW, but I’m guessing they won’t let me eat homemade milkshakes (just ice cream + 2% milk, so delicious!) right before bed? Why can’t milkshakes be a diet food? I made it myself! Doesn’t that make it healthy?

I have a good feeling that those seven pounds are going to be more like nine after today!
An idea re: cookie dough. Maybe one day you just need to gorge your face out on it. Get sick on it. And then maybe you’ll never want it again?

Mmm… cookie dough.
Maybe you can find someone for whom you can bake a “friendly” batch of cookies? Then you could eat a spoonful of dough, bake the rest and shove them off on someone else!

No specific recipes, but you could substitute half a mashed banana & 1/4 tsp of baking powder per egg in the recipe of your choice. You can also substitute the banana for half to 3/4 of the butter in the recipe.
Between those, you cut your fat and your salmonella risk WAY down.
You could also mix whole wheat & regular flour, which probably helps with the WW points. I wouldn’t go more than half whole wheat, though. Maybe more like 1/3, even.
And after you have the equivalent of 2 cookies, you could bake the rest and either you or The King could take them to work the next day, getting rid of the remaining temptation.

The picture of the salmonella from Wikipedia gave me the heebie-jeebies. I am totally guilty of eating raw cookie dough, but this was definitely a deterrent.
Great job on the seven pounds, BTW!

And now you have me craving cookie dough!
But I’ve always loved it. I even prefer it to the actual baked cookie!
I have no idea about a recipe though. If you find one, you are morally obligated as an internet buddy and weight loss sister to pass that thing along to me!

When I was on WW a couple years ago, they had a frozen dessert - some kind of ice cream sundae or something - that had cookie dough in it. I don’t know if they still make it but it saved me over and over again when I had a sweet tooth. Oh wait! Here it is: http://www.eatyourbest.com/products/productsearch/searchdetails.aspx?sid=2306

Oh my gosh this is funny to me… let me explain why!
As you probably already know (or maybe you don’t, but I mention it in my blog pretty often) I don’t LIKE chocolate. I don’t crave it or want it and sweets in general turn my stomach and literally make me sick. I like breads and chips and salty things like green olives but I’ll chose a second helping of onions or brussles sprouts over dessert any day.
SO! Last night I’m on my way up to bed to read and I pass by the refrigerator. In a snacky mood I open it and spy the container of… chocolate chip cookie dough balls I made for the kids after being begged and pleaded with by my 17 year old for an hour to puhlllleaze make cookie dough.
And do you know what I did? I ate 4 of those suckers!!! OK, so I painstakingly picked out every. single. miniature. chocolate. chip. (and piled them in the container because I know my husband or son will eat them for me) but anyway, I ate 4 pieces!? CRAZY!
I even said out loud, “WHY am I eating these? I don’t even LIKE chocolate chip cookie dough!” but darnit I was craving it and it tasted so sweet and so good!
………… must be something in the air.

Oh, I have such a problem with raw cookie dough. Especially in a big tub. Where it’s just so easy to settle on the couch with the a big spoon and the tub in your lap, and eat the WHOLE THING.
I wish I had a good WW recipe for cookie dough! I do highly recommend the WW Giant Fudge bars– the fudgesicle things? Really good. But they’re not cookie dough.

Please let me know when you find that recipe! I do have one for awesome spice cake muffins, that are only 1 point for a full size muffin. One spice cake mix, 1 can of pumpkin, and 1/4 c. water mix together, slop in some muffin papers and bake. Yum. Good luck.

Man, I know!!!! It’s like some switch goes off in our brains the minute we restrict ourselves. It’s friggin’ ridiculous! I have been Hot Cheeto/Hot Funyun free for 3 weeks. I am so proud of myself for that one, but I’m constantly craving all types of chips. I can’t stand it! But I’ve been slowly getting more and more of the bad crap out of my life.
Anywho. There is some weight watchers little sundae things that you buy in the frozen foods section. They have cookie dough ones that I absolutely LOVE!!! They’re amazing! You should try those.

Would some low-fat cookie dough ice cream cure your craving? Because that stuff is amazing.

Use pasteurized eggs in your cookie dough recipe and you will not get salmonella. they taste just as good.

I have a weight watchers cook book at home. I am almost positive that it has cookies in it. I’ll check at lunch and get back with you. Also, I am completely jealous that you have lost 7 lbs. Way to go!

oooh yummy on the raw cookie dough. I mean, bad. Yucky. Poo poo.
Um, I saw you in person last summer (two times), and you looked fabulous, so I don’t know what you’re talking about.
