In which we try to take a nice family pictureApril 28th, 2008 @ 7:01 am
You know how we bought a fancy camera back when Babboo was born? Yeah, you probably don’t know since we don’t fully know how to utilize all the awesomeness of our fancy camera.
This weekend, while away for a well-deserved over-night excursion, we tried to use the fancy “timer” option that our fancy camera has always taunted us with.
“Oh, we can finally take a picture of all of us together for the interweb!” The King proclaimed and he pushed the timer button and prepared for a family picture to treasure for years to come.
And then we tried again and again to get a picture of us enjoying our snuggle time in the hotel room. Eventually we just gave up on the snuggle-time family picture.
The next morning, before heading out to breakfast, we tried for a family picture. Again. This time, instead of on the bed, we opted for the couch in the hotel room.

We weren’t too successful with the “family on the couch” picture either. Although The King did manage to get this lovely picture of the carpet in the hotel room.
Oh great, we are all actually in this picture. (I mean, our suitcase is also in the picture. But whatever, it’s a nice suitcase.)
The King was now confident in his skillz with the timer function. Now if he could only figure out how to focus. Hey, that’s hard. You have to twist the little thing on the front of the camera. It’s very technical.
After we got back home, I decided to try to figure out the timer and get a few shots of Babboo and me. You know, for posterity.
Crap, maybe this whole “timer” thing is harder then it looks.
Oh crap, and so is the whole “in focus” thingy. Especially when used in conjunction with the timer setting thingy.
Great. I finally get both the timer and the focus to work simultaneously. But Babboo choses to cock-block me and totally steal the shot.
Oh yes, the kid is not impressed with any of my mad camera skillz.
And let’s be honest…neither will any of you.
So tell me, what percentage of your pictures are as awesome as mine?

Did you miss the Old 97’s on the Tonight Show last Thursday? (Let’s not talk about how lame my DVR was and how it only got ONE MINUTE of the performance). Anyway, go HERE to watch the Old 97’s in all their glory. Feel free to watch it over and over and over again. I did.

All of my pictures are as awesome of yours. Some of them? Even more awesome
But, my photos typically do not include a damn cute kid like yours do. Mine mostly include an obsese feline.

Those are TEH AWESOME.
And? I think I have 1000 pictures of the top of Noah’s head. Or some other uselessly unphotogenic and unintended part of NOT HIS FACE.

I appreciate the existence of the timer feature, but we never bring our tripod anywhere and can’t ever find anything the appropriate height and distance away to set the camera on to take a proper picture. Your attempts are hilarious though! But your adorableness shines through, even through the blurriness and cock blocking!

HA! Too funny. Maddy and I are trying to master the “hold the camera way out in front of us and smile” portrait. Sometimes if we do it in public enough, some kind stranger will take pity on us and snap the picture.

That was me, not you, who said that last comment. That’s weird.

Hahahahaha! That had me laughing because I totally know how frustrating camera timers can be!

Al totally hates it when I try to get a picture of all of us using the timer. But that doesn’t stop me from doing it everywhere we go. And I rock at it!

I’d say all of my pictures are as awesome as your, lol. You’d think that all Sonys would have similar self timers. We have a Sony, not nearly as fancy as yours, and it’s easy…this makes me a little nervous about upgrading to a better Sony.

Oh my gosh, I am laughing so hard at your awesome photos and genius captions! I love it! And can totally relate. I wasn’t exaggerating at all in the post about my birthday weekend when I said that Tim took 65 pictures and 4 of them turned out decent. Of course, a lot of that had to do with his random pictue-taking style, but a lot of it was also our inability to use our camera.

I’m cracking up for 2 reasons - first we did the exact same thing on the hotel bed - all posed and everything, second Katie is still wearing her bright orange wristband just like Babboo! I think it is her favorite souvenier!

Am just laughing about how you used the word “cockblocker.” teehee
Oh my gosh, Baboo look like such a rock and roll cool kid in that last pic. He just needs a little electric guitar. He’s growing so fast. And so adoreable!

Self-timed family portraits are really tough. I took some of my family about a year and a half ago. I must’ve run back and forth 100 times, all while throwing a toy in the air to get my 5 months old attention. Half the time the toy was falling down in front of the lens.
We got one fairly decent one out of I don’t know how many!!!
