Passport to Heaven?October 26th, 2007 @ 7:01 am
I was twenty six when I got my first passport. We didn’t have a specific trip planned. I wanted to be prepared just in case.
My passport came in the mail and I excitedly thumbed through the pages dreaming of the country stamps that would eventually cover the pages of my passport. The King’s passport was full of country entrance and exit stamps and working visas from when he lived in Europe and I wanted to mine to look like that.

(This is NOT a picture of The King’s passport. While his has plenty of stamps, it’s nothing like this one I found on the internet!)
Since getting my passport I’ve been fortunate enough to use the heck out of it. While I may not travel as much as some people or as often as I’d like, I’ve still been able to visit Mexico three times (one time even staying at a nudist resort), I’ve been to Germany three times, France twice, Amsterdam and Italy once, and Canada too many times to count. The sad thing about this is that very few countries stamp your passport when you enter. It’s a dying tradition and it’s sad.
I’ll be honest and admit that usually the passports are collecting dust in our safe deposit box.
This week I filled out paperwork, found a missing birth certificate, visited a notary and had pictures taken. Later today I’ll be visiting our local passport office.

In six to eight weeks my Sweet Babboo will be able to travel the world with us.
And the thought makes me giddy.

I really should get me a passport. And while I’m at it, probably change my name. Then someday we can travel to Germany together!

I got my first passport at 26 too. I haven’t been able to use it yet, but will at the end of November.
I wish I was as adorable in my photo as Babboo is in his. I think it’s awesome that you plan to travel with him internationally.

I think Babboo officially has the best passport photo ever.

Oh he looks precious. I should send you the picture from Jojo’s passport– it is too hilarious (he was 8 months when we took the picture).

Ok, so I just read the nudist post, which I’ve never read before. You guys are just full of surprises, aren’t you? I must say I never thought - Isabel, nudist resort, of course! But more power to you.
I got spray tanned yesterday (info in my post today) and stood there topless with a strange lady. That was hard enough for me, don’t think I could do it in front of a bunch of strangers!

That’s awesome. My passport has a few South American stamps, but the only thing I’ve used it for in the last several years is making a copy for my new jobs because it’s easier than bringing an out of state license and social security card.

I got my passport when I was 23, and imagined I’d have stamps galore! But, sadly, it’s true, hardly anyone stamps it anymore. And, even more sadly, the stamp that I do have, isn’t even on the right page

I think passport pictures of children are unbelievably cute. My dad has the unused ones of my two little brothers (they were 2 and 3) on his desk. They sort of hurt my heart, they are so cute.

He’s so dang cute!
I have never been outside of the country, but it’s something I want to do so bad. I think I’ve told you before that one place I want to visit SO bad is Italy.
One day it will happen!

We didn’t get passports until after E was born, and we got them this summer. I’ve been out of the country only on a cruise, before the passports were required. But with the way things are in the country/world…it seemed irresponsible to not have them ready at any time. And E’s passport picture is much better than mine, of course. I feel better knowing we have these. And I hope we can only bring E’s passport instead of his birth certificate when we fly now…taking the bc always makes me nervous because it’s hard to keep up with.

Dude, did I miss this? Where are you all going?
It’s so sad that they don’t stamp your passport. When I travelled Europe, I got a whopping two stamps.. and they were only from here in Sydney, and at Heathrow. Not ONE from any country in Europe. *sigh*

Maybe the grumpy passport checkers will be more likely to stamp you guys because you have Baboo with you? It could happen!
I have two passports, but they’re WAY expired. In the one, I’m crying my eyes out. I’d lost my passport while in Spain, and had to get another one. At the Embassy. About 3 hours before my flight left. And naturally, my own passport was tangled up in some dirty clothing that my mom found the next day. Sigh.

It IS exciting to have that passport! I never had one until I was 30. My husband is the anti-traveler and you don’t need a passport to drive across the state lines so he didn’t care.
I however was frustrated and have always wanted to travel… marrying a homebody at 18/19 years old messes up that plan BTW.
In 2000 I started to bug the husband to come with me to get passport photos done. He never felt like, never got around to it. I finally took the kids and got all of ours done and in the end, WE all got passports and he did not.
Mine has only been used once (trip to Italy with my oldest daughter) and she will be using hers a second this December for a trip to England (all by herself and I’m scared to death about that…) but I’m sad to say the 2 younger kids haven’t used theirs yet.
I am DETERMINED to get theirs renewed within the next few months and we will be using them SOMEHOW in the next year. It’s my goal…..
(gee, I wasn’t chatty this morning was I? But if you read my blog you’ll know why I’m so desperate for conversation this morning! LOL)

My parents aren’t from here so as soon as we were born we were handed passports (we had dual citizenship)
I keep forgetting to get my son one. And he’s supposed to be going to Europe next summer.

So cute! I think it’s awesome that Babboo has his own passport.
I have one that’s expired, and not full of stamps however I wish it was. Traveling is SO MUCH FUN!

Sadly, I have never even thought about getting a passport. As much as I would like to, I don’t see overseas travelling happening any time soon for me.
