I which I try to be more upbeat then I really amOctober 4th, 2007 @ 7:01 am
It was raining so hard yesterday afternoon that instead of walking a couple of blocks to pick up Babboo from school, I drove. That’s right people, I drove a few blocks to his daycare.
Cut me some slack, it was really pouring down rain out there.

(Apparently it wasn’t raining enough for the City of Seattle to turn off their water feature. Doh!)
You know the rain stopped as soon as I pulled out of my parking garage, just like my coworkers predicted. Life loves to kick me in my proverbial balls.
I am trying really hard to not write an entire post about how nervous I am about the upcoming winter months. I’m nervous about how my emotions will be able to handle the dark months and the rain. I don’t want to bore you with my talk of rain and more rain and walking home in the rain and being soaked by the time I get home and rain, rain, rain, please go just go the hell away.
No, that much talk of rain is too boring.
Instead of talking about the damn rain, I present you with this picture of my Sweet Babboo.

Poor kid. This was taken early this morning while waiting to board the elevator for our morning walk to school. I am taking no chances. My kid will be dry as a bone when he arrives at school because he is covered from head to toe in plastic. So while he may stay dry, he may also suffocate.
This stroller cover is crazy. Thankfully he wasn’t too upset by all the rain gear, he was too busy eating his banana, waffle and milk to worry about a little rain.
Me, on the other hand, got soaked as usual.
When will I learn that I shouldn’t bother with washing and blow drying my hair every day?
And totally off topic, which is good because nobody should blog about the weather, did you watch Pushing Daisies last night? Holy cow, I did, and I loved it. And then I blogged about it.

There are WAY worse things than weather blogging. Like. Um. Your Mom for instance. I guess I shouldn’t tell you how nice and sunny and warm it is in Chicago at the moment…despite the disgusting smog.

In a few weeks, I’m going to be fighting the same urge to start complaining about the snow and the cold and the snow and the cold and how much I hate winter and how freaking long it lasts around here and how every day should be a snow day if we have to put up with all this cold and snow.
So, yeah. I feel your pain.

I think they need to make matching strollers (motorized) and plastic covers for urban mommies too.
Maybe that can be my million dollar idea!

The boy in the plastic bubble looks completely unfazed.
I used to think my grandma was crazy for wearing those plastic rain bonnets, but I completely get them now. If you spend all of that time fixing your hair it should not be a sopping mess when you get to your destination. Too bad they look so silly.

I love rain, as long as I don’t have to go outside during it. Then my love quickly turns to hate.
You can blog all you want about the sucky winter weather. I will be wearing all black and mourning on the day daylight savings ends. I will be sitting in my underground office all day, and then walking outside to find it already dark at 5pm. I’m getting depressed already!

Oh man, we’re in the SAME boat here. Not only is it rainy, but it is windy too. Note to self: do not wear dress on windy days.
I love the rain cover, I’d like to just toss one over myself on days like today. Or, you know what doesn’t seem half bad? Those little rain bonnets that grannies wear. I may buy one.
I missed Pushing Daisies. I really wanted to see it. But, I accidentally fell asleep at 6:30 last night. Oops!

I really feel for you. Write about it as much as you want. The constant rain has to be incredibly depressing. I’d NEVER do my hair (oh wait, I don’t, hardly) if that were my scenario, and I’d be driving through each little drop. I hope it turns out better than you’re anticipating.

I seriously think I have SAD (seasonal affective disorder) when I lived in seattle I ate nonstop for months b/c I could never go outside. The summer months made up for it, but I still feel so depressed in the winter. I want to go to bed at 6pm. My husband works in a building w/no windows. He goes to work in the dark & comes home in the dark. Doesnt see sunlight for days at a time. It makes me want to sit him under lights when he gets home. It doesnt seem to bother him, but I’d be nuts.

It’s the bubble boy! Really, seems pretty clever to have a rain cover for strollers. Three kids and rainy days and I never knew such things existed. Haven’t yet watched Pushing Daisies, but have a feeling it will be a new favorite show.

OMG! I love it! It reminds me of the plastic furniture covers in my grandmother’s house.
(And I’ll have you know, that I have driven to my sons school a few times. Um…The school that is next door. Granted, I did have lots of stuff to carry, but still…Blush)

I feel your pain, snow and cold is right around the corner for me.
They make rain slickers for strollers? I’m so outdated!

Oh he’s so cute. Gosh, even through that covering you can see he’s getting so big. Where did that time go?

OMG I love his snack tray. He looks so cozy. What a great way to have breakfast, seeing the (wet) sights of Seattle!

Okay. That’s a lot of rain. I often comment to people that I actually miss the rain in Seattle. THAT rain I don’t miss. Not one little bit.

YES. Baby O looked a lot like that just so his poor mother could try to run off a few pounds. And I suck because I have to drive everywhere. Even to RUN. God.

I have to say, Babboo looks so cute! And the rain cover is a pretty awesome idea.
I’m not looking forward to winter either. I HATE driving in it and I hate having to go out in the morning and scrape my windows and get into my cold car and wait for it to warm up. Ugh! I hate it.

Buy yourself a Pare umbrella.
Get some cute wellies and go jump around in the puddles.
Curl up with a book and watch the rain drip down your window panes.
Fall asleep to the sound of rain on your roof.
Think of me, a girl who grew up in Seattle and MISSES with her whole heart the gray days of a Seattle winter.

Hey - send it over here, we could use some of it and push a little more inland for the farmers!
Isn’t it funny how reading blogs you will come across very similar themes - Spilt Milk talked about the Winter Blues today http://spiltmilkblog.blogspot.com/2007/10/sad-and-light-therapy.html
