Moving to a city near youJuly 19th, 2007 @ 7:01 am
My best friend, May, is moving away. She’s taking her husband, her toddler, and her unborn baby with her.
The King will miss Mr. May. Babboo will miss Baby May.
But most of all, I will miss the lady who has been my best friend out here in Seattle for the past 7 years.
Poor me.
They are moving to Reno, Nevada in less then a month. They have quit their jobs. They sold their house. Boxes have been packed.
Poor me.
I’m pretty sure this is it. May will be gone. The King isn’t convinced they are moving for good. Mostly because they’ve moved before. They moved to Reno about 5 years ago. They didn’t like it. So they moved to Orange County, California. That didn’t work out so well either. They moved back to Seattle and we convinced them to buy a house on the same street as our first house. We had so much fun being neighbors. May and I would go for walks every night. We had BBQ’s together. We even toilet papered houses together. We had sleepovers and early morning breakfasts. We laid out in my backyard together, working on our tans.
Even though I moved downtown, we still hang out. May and her little girl have been riding the bus over every Saturday to swim in our pool and eat fruit from the market. Babboo loves Baby May. Baby May loves “baby Babboo”.
Last time they moved May and I were vigilant at keeping in touch. May and I both worked all day on a computer, so the e-mails flowed non stop. The King and I made sure to visit them when they were living in Orange County. We all went to Disneyland together.
Good times.
The King is totally convinced they’ll eventually move back to Seattle. I sure hope so. May’s a lot of fun. She’s a really good person, but also not afraid to take thing up a notch and snark it up.
She also appreciates a good bargain.
I like that about her.

(The four us us, right before they moved away last time.)
May’s birthday was a few months ago. I bought her a ton of flowers and pots for her front yard. I was hoping that having beautiful flowers would convince her to stay in Seattle.
It didn’t work. And she never planted the flowers. She told me last night she couldn’t bring herself to do it.
I’m going to miss her so much it hurts.
May and I started this weird little thing last time they moved. Every morning we would start the day with an e-mail telling the other one what we were wearing to work that day. I guess it was a way for us to feel like we were still around.
Today I’m wearing my black capri’s, a black shirt, and my gold jacket.
So tell me, what are you wearing?
———–
Stay tuned. Next Monday May and I have a little something special in store for you, my dear readers. You will not want to miss it! Especially YOU. Or You. Or even you.
They're just my friends

Is it ok that I’m crying a little bit for you? I know what it’s like to have to move away or to have your bff move away. It sucks.

Oh and light blue jeans, beige tank top, and a black hoodie that is not a sweatshirt.

I’m so sorry that your bff is moving and I really hope they decide to move back!! I would be devastated if my bff moved away from here.
Also, I am wearing jeans and a brown short sleeve shirt. No shoes at the moment, although I did wear them to work.

That is a really cute habit, actually. My best friend from college lives in California, and we have a habit of running all online / clothes purchases by each other. You have to find some way to stay connected!
I am wearing a black pencil skirt, black and cream blouse and black heels (meeting today, hence the conservative attire).

Here to hoping May, Mr. May, and baby May move back soon. Poor you.
It must be bum day. I’m also wearing jeans, tennis shoes, and a pink and black striped shirt. It’s really ugly but comfy.

Would you like me to greet them at the entrance to Reno with a “Go Away” sign? They might just turn right back around.
I don’t get it because I loooooove Seattle. I would live there if I could make a good living of it. Then again, I guess I do get it in a way. I live where I live because I have a job and an apartment.
I’m wearing grey pants, nylons, black open toe heels, blue sleeveless button up and a snazzy black pinstripe short sleeve blazer. My hair is up and I have perfume/makeup/jewlery one. Why you ask? It is a secret…one I hope to share soon. *fingers crossed* Otherwise my answer would have been unironed oxford (hey, it was in the drier), slacks and a scowl. Sexay.
Seriously though, are these people cool? I could totally use someone to TP houses with.

Oh, I am intrigued! Can’t wait until Monday.
I am wearing a black tee shirt, brown cuffed capris, and my new Keen-brand Mary Janes. They’re a little too sporty to wear with work clothes, but I am pregnant and DO NOT CARE.

I’m so sorry your friend is moving. That stinks, big time.
And to answer your question, I’m at work and wearing cuffed skinny jeans, dark brown capiz shell flip flops, and a navy blue v-neck t-shirt that has sea images printed on it and seagulls embroidered on it. We’re pretty casual here.

Phooey on friends moving away. I hereby forbid all my girlfriends from ever ever moving away.
I am wearing Paper, Denim, and Cloth jeans, light brown ballet flats and a oatmeal colored long sleeve cotton kimono top from the Gap. It’s COLD here today in PDX.

What am I wearing?? WHAT AM I WEARING?? You sicko!!
(dude! This comment thing has spellcheck. Oh crap! I spelled spell check wrong).
Well, since you asked so nicely, I’m wearing brown and blue Bermuda shorts and a blue shirt with some brown thing over it and I’m shoe free. It’s so sexy. You wish you could see, don’t you?
I was hoping May was moving HERE because then I could be a friend stealer. What a bummer. But Reno seems alright. I have a bazillion Internet friends that live there. For some reason the people of Reno are attracted to me. It must be my clothes. Yes, definitely.

I’m sad you’re friend is moving. If Emily ever moved away I would probably stop breathing. No, seriously.
Oh and I’m wearing brown tights (the footless ones that stop at mid-calf) and a brown and blue shirt dress thing over top. I had on shoes but I took them off.

Well, I did that to my best friends in Virginia, but then I am only three hours away from them. Sorry you are losing such a good friend.
Oh, what am I wearing?? Pants, cami, shirt that a coworker told me looks like a cat got a hold of. Great.

How are people commenting today at 6pm already? There must be some freaky warp in the space-time continuum.
I’m wearing brown corduroy pants (in summer, I know but they were clean), green and cream striped shirt and a pair of mary janes.
Internet is great and all, but nothing beats seeing friends in person. It’s so hard to make friends with people that you can actually get together with and hang out and that your whole family enjoys being around (maybe I’m just too picky
). If I had a bff who lived close to me, and they moved away, I would cry. I know, that doesn’t help any. I’m sorry that May is moving.

Dude, tell them Reno is surrounded by wildfires right now.
I’m wearing pants that I got from a former housemate Mark, a shirt that I got from a former coworker Barbara, and a sweater that I got from Alexandra’s consignment shop on Olive.

I’m so sorry she’s moving away. I hope it’s not for too long!
My BFF went to the east coast for boarding school in high school, so we have been doing the long-distance thing for almost 10 years now. Luckily her parents still live around here, so she comes back from time to time.
It seems like I’m at the point in my life where all of my friends are just scattered across the country. Between moving away to go to college or moving after college, we have all ended up several hours away from each other. And after living in this town for 2 1/2 years, Tim and I are finally starting to make some local friends again. But it’s hard! Why can’t friends just all stay in the same place forever and ever and ever?

Oh, I forgot. I’m wearing flip-flops from Spain, tan capris from the gap, and a blue tank top, also from the gap. Of course you had to ask when I was having a lazy, don’t-care-what-I-look-like day.

I email my best friend, JoJo every day as well. We don’t live far away from each other, but it’s so nice to keep in touch every day.
Today I am wearing my flare Silvers pants, my cute blue top with stars all over it, and it ties in the back, with blue star earrings, and my blue canvas shoes that I love.
I’m totally excited to see what happens on Monday!

I’m so sorry you’re losing such a good friend to be with on a regular basis. It’s hard enough to find a good friend at all, much less one that your spouse likes and then your children enjoy each other, too. So, I bet she’ll figure that out and move back again.
Wearing: A gray pajama top that can pass as a real top, cream-colored real pants that can pass as pajama pants, an old, thin, rough-hewn blue receiving blanket folded and twisted up and tied in my hair (which I had done yesterday and is itchy!), and a black lace-up brace on my right foot because I twisted my ankle. The brace shows off my new pedicure beautifully!

I’m so sorry about May leaving. I was hoping she’d cancel that really bad plan of hers!
Um, I’m VERY excited about next Monday!

So sorry to hear that your friend is moving away. Some dear friends of ours are moving on Monday, tomorrow will be the last time we’ll see them for a long while. And get this, they are moving to Spokane Washington. It sucks, I know how you’re feeling.
Oh, and I’m wearing a cream colored button up the front short sleeved shirt, low rise jeans and brown strappy sandals.
