Mommy, what’s for dinner?June 7th, 2007 @ 7:01 am
When Babboo and I walked in the door last night we found The King sitting on the couch, waiting for us.
I can count on one hand how many times this has happened.
He had gotten done at work early and was brought home in a limo. (Don’t ask why, I don’t even know.) He wanted to spend some time with us before he headed to the new house to work for the night.
Which meant I could cook dinner all by myself.
Usually when I’m home alone with Babboo trying to make dinner I have to give him something to keep him occupied while I’m busy in the kitchen.

Here sweetie, update mommy’s blog while I cook dinner.
But not last night. The King kept him busy with book reading, toy playing and drum banging. The entire time I was in the kitchen I didn’t have to worry about a toddler hanging on my legs begging to be picked up. This allowed me some alone time in the kitchen to bake and take pictures. You know, so I could blog about it over at my other blog.
Amazing.
We were even able to eat dinner together at home as a family. So what if we were we standing in the kitchen eating and not sitting at our table. We were all together.
After dinner was over I made The King feel guilty enough that he did the dishes for me.

Babboo was his cheering section. Hooray for daddy and his amazing skillz.
And since I didn’t know what to do with all this free time, Babboo and I decided to take some photos together. For prosperity’s sake.

Hooray for the King washing dishes. Hooray for pictures. I love the pic of you and Babboo. And he did a great job updating your blogs. So talented for one so young.

Dude, we don’t even have a kitchen table.
Look at that brilliant child, only one year old and already he knows the correct hand position on a keyboard. Future bill gates (but way cuter)!

OK, but… even better than The King sitting there waiting for you to cook him dinner when you got home would be if you had gotten home at HE had cooked dinner, right?
Then again, he DID do the dishes, so I suppose it’s an almost-fair trade.
Also, that kid is adorable.

Aww, what a cute picture! It’s awesome you guys got some quality time together, even if it was for a bit. And you even got out of the dishes, haha!

Wow, that is some royalty you married into! I think I would pass out if I walked in and my husband was already home. And the dishes? My hubby helps out a lot around the house but I don’t think he has figured out where the dishwasher is yet.

I heart your family.
If our kitchen wasn’t such a death trap, I’m sure Henry would be hanging on my legs. If he could tear himself away from the fridge magnets.
I’m just amazed to know someone who actually *cooks* dinner. Some nights? It’s all about the microwave! Tonight? Because I’m lazy? “Organic” fish sticks.

I’m not a huge blog fan…I read them randomly( happened upon yours through the Old 97’s website)and I find most to be either poorly written and boring or pompous and self absorbed. Yours, however, was very well written, heartfelt, and entertaining. You truly have a gift. I am a father of 6, and usually do not like to read other people’s rantings on their family life as though they are the only ones with kids. Again, yours is different and I could relate to some of the feelings you were going through.
Anyway, I just wanted to write and give you some positive feedback from someone who generally does not like this type of thing.
