Does this make me a crazy-cat-lady?May 19th, 2007 @ 5:05 pm
The cat.
(shakes head.)
For fear of boring you with talk of my cat, and then more talk of my cat, let’s just get right to it. Um, kay?
Our cat is furry. And refuses to let us comb him. He hates the groomers. And they hate him. We decided a while ago that we just needed to shave him. Unfortunately no groomer would attempt it. We called a number of vets to see if any of them would put him under and shave him.
Last week we found one that would do it.
For a small-ish fee. Who cares what they charge us. The damn cat needed to be shaved. Here he is the night before the procedure.

The amount of fur is alarming. There is a lot of it. And a lot of knots in that fur.
Here is Preston after the procedure.

So luxurious. And funny looking. And maybe a little pissed at us.
(Guess what? Even if he looks funny, it feels so yummy to pet his fur. I think we may have to keep this look up. Hopefully next time we won’t have to pay so much to get it done.)

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! That picture of him afterward cracks me up. It’s like he’s saying, “People, what have you done to me!?” You should have a picture caption contest here on your blog with that photo and submit the best result to http://www.icanhascheezburger.com.

We have a white persian that we have to do the same thing to. She comes home really pissed off and gives us that look for awhile.

BAHAHAHHA!
Okay, that’s all. He looks like he’s ready to gouge your eyes out with his kittyclaws.
But he looks fur-tastic!

Lookin’ good, Preston! I love the ‘do! Plus, now Isabel won’t have any cat hair to vacuum for awhile.
I wonder how long it will last? here’s to hoping he’s like Henry… it took him forever to re-grow the hair they shaved on his arm. He looked like a little peg leg for months!

AAhhhaaahhhaaaaa! That is awesome!
He looks utterly furious with you guys, but I completely sympathize with your reasons behind the shave fest. My cat isn’t quite as furry as yours is (er … WAS), but I still threaten to shave her on a daily basis.

I hope Babboo is feeling better!

Oh my goodness, your kitty is soooo cute! Shaved or unshaved.
I’ve wanted to shave my cat for such a long time. Not because of the length, but because of how much she sheds. It’s horrible. She has knots because of the shedding, not the length. It’s insane. And the only reason I haven’t gotten it done yet, is because I would also have to pay to have my cat knocked out as well, and I just don’t have the money for it. I think I’m just going to do it myself.

Poor Preston looks like he’s been stripped of all his dignity. He looks like he’s wearing boots! That’s hilarious!

He is a poodle-cat!
Did they end up having to put him under to do it?

LMAO! Dude, that cat looks like it’s about to gouge out your eyeballs. Or maybe its that the drugs haven’t worn off yet.

My sister has to do the same thing to her kitty. I think he looks cute, personally. And SO much easier to deal with!

Awesome- you have a cat-lion! I will have to take a picture of the cat across the street and send it to you. His name is Griffey, and has the exact same hair cute! They are twins from anotha motha!

He looks PISSED! I love it! As much as I’d love a long-haired cat, this (and the butt dingleberries) is why I’ve never got one yet. We have enough fur-as-atmosphere with two short(er) haired kitties. Is he Preston after Dr. Burke on G.A.?

We did the same thing to a long haired cat we owned with the same hilarious results.

Oh. My. God. Do they really leave the head and lower legs furry and just shave the rest, or did Preston give them a hard time?
This picture makes my day. I love it so much.

Hopefully when it heats up, Preston will feel grateful for the cool breeze against his skin and all will be forgiven!

What the hell did you do to that cat? He looks ridiculous. To pay for the haircuts you could probably get him into some kitty-modeling for those funny greeting cards with pissed off cats that joke about you getting old.

FREAKING HILARIOUS. Will the people who shaved him do it again, or is he banned?

My parents have furry cats like that. They have to get one of two of them shaved every six months. It looks awesome, in a funky kind of way.

Oh what a red cutie, in both pics! I use to have the same problem with a persian girl - no longer in this world -she hated to be groomed thus we had to have her shaved down a couple of times/year. I did it myself though - she looked like a little weird cat from outer space and acted like one too, all crazy and giddy from not having to deal with mats.
I now have a housecat that’s in bad need of a shave down, I’m waiting for a friend with a shaver to do it. While waiting I’m pondering over what the fur-cat to give her…

::gasp:: You didn’t!!! I’m sure that kitty is totally thinking about leaving you “presents” in your shoes and bed! Poor kitty.
I can understand why you would want him shaved, though - his hair looked hard to brush and kind of knotty. I feel lucky that our long haired kitty has very smooth, very brush-able hair.

Also, holy new site design, batman! Looks great!
