Give & Take
April 16th, 2007 @ 7:01 am

The King and I have been taking turns every night. He gets the couch and I get the floor. The next night I get the couch and he gets the floor. We’ve been doing this for over a month. We are sleeping better, but this arrangement probably isn’t very good for our, our do you call them, marital relations.

The following conversation took place this morning at 3:45ish:

Isabel: You awake?

The King: Yeah, but I’m trying to get back to sleep.

Isabel: Want to come down on the floor with me and snuggle a bit?

The King: Yeah, that sounds good. But let it be known that I didn’t get my full night on the couch. Tomorrow night you’re gonna have to give up the couch at 4:00 for me.

Isabel: Whatever, just come down here and snuggle.

Don’t think for a second that he really won’t make me give up the couch tonight. I guess it’s only fair.

The King

What! He should be willing to give you the couch all week if you’re willing to “snuggle” at 4am. As someone who gets woken up at 4:30am everyday, I cannot imagine feeling like “snuggling” at that hour.

That’s so sad! :( But at least you guys are getting to sleep better, and maybe soon you can get back in your bed. And if not, maybe you guys should get an air matress or something.

You people are crazy! Did you think about an air mattress? They’re pretty cheap at Wal-mart, ya know? Of course, where would you put it during the day? You wouldn’t want to blow it up and deflate it every single day, so maybe that was a bad suggestion. Is it possible for the baby’s crib to go in the living room and you guys claim your bedroom back??

The ONE time that Justin reads your blog and you talk about “snuggling” at 4am. Thanks Isabel…now he says “Isabel does it!”

Huh? I’ve missed some of your posts. Why do you have this sleeping arrangment?

Good luck with the “marital arrangments”! ;)

Have you tried a filter fan that makes a lot of white noise?

Dude, I can drive you to REI someday if you want.
We’ll buy you an air mattress and also some velcro straps.
To strap the mattress to the wall during the day.
    No, not for that.
    Sicko.
