Matt Lauer, do you hear me calling?March 2nd, 2007 @ 7:01 am
It’s King Friday today. But we’re giving him the day off. Why? Mostly because he is too busy. His office is moving to a new location today and we all know how crappy moving is. So today you’ll just have to put up with another post from me.
Blah. I know.
The King and I do this dance. A dance that I’m sure other couples do too. It goes a little something like this:
The King: What would you rather have in the kitchen of the new house; canned lights or track lights?
Isabel: I really liked the canned lights we had in our old house. We should just do that again.
The King: We can’t do canned lights. They won’t work with our kitchen cabinets. We have to do the track lighting.
Isabel: Yeah, so why did you even ask me what I wanted?
The King: Dear, don’t get all worked up. I’m just saying it’s tough. I’ll remember to leave you alone, I guess. I was just wondering what you thought.
Fun times.
So while The King is the one doing all the work on our new house, I know he would like for me to be involved in it. But I can’t be. I’m busy with our baby boy. (Our baby boy that now has five teeth!) Plus, he really doesn’t need my input. He’s the talented one.
Seriously, if I had a say in anything we would have all black walls with pink stripes. And I would probably forget to even put lights in. Or something equally alarming.
What I wouldn’t forget? Installing a new TV in the vanity/dressing table that The King is building just for me. Dude, I don’t want to miss Matt Lauer while I’m busy blow drying my hair.

(I love how I think that at some point in my life I’ll be able to reignite my love affair with Matt Lauer. Free time, what? Sleeping in until The Today Show starts, what what?)
Wait, what was I talking about?
Canned lights, right.
But what was my point again?
Um, nothing. Just that The King shouldn’t even bother to ask my opinion. That is all.

Definitely feeling you. From home improvement to finances to whatever… my husband is NOTORIOUS for this!
I always say the same thing, too! “Why’d you even ask if you really don’t want my opinion?”
Love is grand!

Ditto on Mr. Squirrel.
Of all the morning hosts, I’d pick Matt, too, although I hear he’s a dog.
Re: decor for your new house, I’m mailing you something today that I think is perfect for the new house.

I think I’m the one in my household that does that. Chris will ask me where I want to go eat dinner and I will, of course, say “I don’t care”. He will then suggest a place and I, of course, say “No, I don’t wanna go there”.
He gets kinda tired of it, lol. I’m trying to get better.

We have been re-doing a lot of rooms in our house, and we have equal input, but I’ve been letting Joel win on a lot of things (color of the walls, spending hundreds of dollars on a speaker system that is totally not necessary, that sort of thing). The one thing I would not bend on is my new TV in the kitchen. Wall-mounted plasma, baby! Now I can watch law and order while I make frozen pizzas.

This post reminds me of that scene from Steel Magnolias where Clarey is in Dolly Parton’s beauty shop and talking about how her gay nephew loves track lighting.
(Dude, what’s with me bringing all my theatrical baggage to your comments section lately?)

The dance at our house goes ” u choose” …”no U choose”…”have u chosen?”…”I thought U were gonna choose!!!”…. blah blah.
*substitute ‘choose’ to ‘do’
So it takes ages to agree. It’s mostly this way coz we r both too lazy to do stuff…

So…. do you prefer Matt Lauer now or Matt Lauer five years ago with more hair?
And if you had to choose between Matt Lauer, Ricky Shroeder, and Rhett Miller, who would it be???

Shaun and I dance different dances. Ours is our indecisive~ness. Every single night, it’s the same thing.
Shaun: “What do you want for dinner?”
Me: “I dunno. What do you want?”
Shaun: “I don’t know, that’s why I asked you.”
Me: “Well, I dunno. What do you feel like?”
Shaun: “What do YOU feel like?”
Me: “I don’t know…”
And on and on, haha!
How much longer until your house is done?!

Too funny. I am realizing though that I’m the one who pulls this kind of stuff with Nick — not the other way around. I must be totally annoying!

I TOTALLY know that dance. Except I do the same thing to my husband. I ask him if I should wear the pink shirt of the yellow one. When he picks the yellow one I tell him “but the pink one matches the pants I wanted to wear.” What is wrong with me!?

OMG I can’t believe you can even type that in such a good mood. I HATE that. Why ask if you don’t care what I think or if there really isn’t a choice?
But then, that’s what my dad said when I got my belly button pierced even though he said it was dumb.
