My friend May has a 2 year old daughter. Babboo loves May’s daughter, as do I. She’s hilarious, and always makes Babboo smile. She says things to him like; baby Babboo want some crackers? And then stuffs crackers in his face. All the while, he smiles and reaches out to her. It’s cute, really.
May tells me that on the days we’re planning on hanging out her daughter will ask for Baby Babboo all day long. She wants to know when he’ll be there and what toys they can play with once he gets there. The ladies love Babboo.
A few weeks ago May and I went shopping. As always, we took the kids with us. It’s what we do and it usually works out just fine. That is until recently when this little girl decided that she didn’t want to ride in her stroller any more. Makes sense really. I mean, why be strapped in a stroller when you could be walking around touching everything?!
Unfortunately, you can’t let you kids run amuck in a store. At least not if your trying not to lose them. May found that she was spending all of her time trying to keep an eye on her daughter and not looking for sweet deals.
Since May has been a Mother longer, she is much wiser than I would ever be. She decided that instead of worrying where her daughter may be running off to, and instead makes her wear tap shoes.
It was awesome. We never wondered where she was. We could hear her at all time. Seriously, so awesome. Tap shoes are very loud.
So instead of her daughter looking all goofy like this kid:

She looks awesome like these ladies:

Now you tell me, which is cooler??
(it’s the dancers. I promise.)
(don’t forget to check out my other blog for two posts about last night’s new Veronica Mars episode.)
They're just my friends

But… little boys in tap shoes aren’t as cute. LOL.
Also, a lot of stores have carpeting where you can’t hear the shoes.
(And sometimes tap shoes look really stupid with outfits that need to have little tennis shoes or sandals… etc.)
When they are between 9 months and 2 you can usually get away with tiny bells on their shoes.

Wow, I should get my husband some tap shoes for when we are shopping. Of course, when he wanders off, he’s usually just trying to find a place to sit so maybe that wouldn’t work so well.

That’s brilliant. I used to love wearing my tap shoes around when I was a kid!

LOL…awesome! A little girl at daycare has shoes with removable squeakers in the soles. Her mom brought her wearing them as a joke, but the babysitter left them in so she could hear where she is (she is just learning to run, so she doesn’t get far but it still makes it easier). She sounds like a little cartoon. It’s adorable!

Holy Crap! I never would’ve thought of something like that. Of course, I would probably lose my mind from all the damn tapping.

I scored some tap shoes at a garage sale. I’ll wear them at BlogHer so you won’t lose me.

Please don’t forget to take a pictures of HS in her tap shoes at BlogHer!
So yeah, but what are you going to put on Babboo and what do I put on Silly Boy? You know, when that time comes (God help us).

May’s daughter sounds a lot like my little cousin McKinley. Every time she sees me and Zachary isn’t with me, she’ll ask, “Where Zach at?” and she is SO dang cute! I love her to death! And her and Zachary love each other… they are best friends!
And I gotta say I love the tap shoes idea! I like it much better than the leeshes!

Very clever. Better than a harness or leash!
Also, I don’t watch Veronica Mars, so I have nothing to contribute to your other blog, but I love that you’ve dedicated a Web site to a TV show. I wonder, if I started one for All My Children, if it would get any traffic?

That’s an awesome idea, and I think I have the perfect candidate for them!
I always did think that the leash idea was a bit much, but tap shoes? Brilliant.

I love that idea! I have never been a fan of the leash! Tell her how smart we think she is!

I’m sure everyone else in the store also appreciates the tap dancing toddler. How could you not appreciate that?

A tap dancing toddler would be fun. The leash thing just creeps me out - I mean, people put their dogs in cushier things than keeping THEM on leashes nowadays.

That is a fantastic idea! But I had a kid leash, and I loved it. My end had a puppy on it and I’m pretty sure I thought it was a bracelet.

I love your choice of graphics!
Plus, what heppens if u are in a store that’s carpet floor? Do u have them there…I don’t remember.
I think a string of little bells would be affective in that situation.
I saw in Curryland, parents had little silver anklets for their kids so they could hear where they were.
