“Brownies for Breakfast” would make a good name for a rock bandJanuary 18th, 2007 @ 7:01 am
You know when you get so busy that nothing interesting happens in your life?
Yeah, that’s what’s happened to me this week. I mean, stuff has happened. And to be honest, I guess it hasn’t been all that un-interesting. Crap, that means it’s me. I’m the un-interesting equation.
(Is “un-interesting” a word? Crap.)
Actually some pretty exciting things have happened lately. Babboo and I made our first solo plane flight. Which sucked balls. But we all knew that was pretty much what was going to happen. (Please explain to me why my 9 month old needs to take his shoes off in airport security? PLEASE!) (Also, please tell me why the older planes don’t have a changing table in the airplane bathroom? Is it really sanitary for me to change a poopy diaper in the aisle way? Really?)
Babboo and I got to meet bloggers. Which, hello, was awesome. And very interesting. And we visited my family. Also, awesome. You know what I learned while staying with my parents? That I eat well at my Mom’s house. We’re talking brownies for breakfast and pizza for lunch and dinner. And not to mention the soda. They drink so much soda that I’m pretty sure I saw my Mom putting it on her cold cereal in the morning. (After she had her morning brownie, of course.)
Prior to their morning soda and brownies, my folks had to shovel all of the snow from their parking lot (you can’t see from this picture, but they have a very long private drive which my Dad has to use a tractor on). And man, there was a lot of snow. (I hate snow.)
Babboo and I stayed inside, in our pajamas, and watched my Mom and Dad freezing outside. (We were also probably even warmer since eating our morning brownies.)
My younger brother and his little family got to meet Babboo. They liked him, of course. Babboo and his little cousin got along…as well as babies who don’t know each other can get along. (I think blacking out babies is about the funniest thing ever. I plan to do more of it.)
We got to hang out with my friend, Marci, and her 3 kids. (3 kids, holy crap, when did that happen?!) My Dad was even able to take her oldest out for a sleigh ride behind his 4-wheeler. Which doesn’t sound safe. And probably isn’t safe. But dang it, they had a blast. My Mom doesn’t really own any good toys for them to play with, so they had to entertain them somehow.
All in all, the trip was a success. The King survived us being gone. It was only for a few days, so I didn’t expect him to not make it. He did tell me, when he picked me up from the airport; “I hope you got that out of your system because you won’t be leaving me home alone anytime soon!” (I think he missed me being there to make the bed every morning. And vacuum.)
As you know, I’m pretty mad at Babboo’s school lately. As much as I like my baby and like spending time with my baby, I don’t like spending time with my baby at work. Or trying to nurse my baby at work. No, don’t like that so much.
The King called me this morning to tell me that a lice outbreak has occurred at the school!!! My head tingles just thinking about it.
As a lice survivor (circa junior high), I know lice is a real threat. And I know how horrible it is. Please, please, please let the lice stay contained in the big kids room and not make it over to the infant room. I don’t want this anywhere near my sweet baby.
(Dude, I can’t quit itching!)

Bonjour,
I have been reading your blog for quite some time now. I just love it ! My family lives in WA. In fact my husband and I we’re just in Seattle for 15 days in Nov. Next time we come to the States we’ll have to connect. I’ve lived in France now for the past 6 1/2 years. We are expecting our first baby at the end of Feb. Take good care and keep up the good postings !

First of all, I almost didn’t click on that lice picture because I am also a survivor and have nightmares about ever dealing with it again. But I did click on it, because I am glutton for punishment, and oh my gosh, are they nasty-looking things.
Second of all, what a great picture of you and Babboo. I love his pajamas!
And third, I also laughed out loud at the black-barred baby. You simply MUST do more of those.

It could have been pinworms. Those are lovely to find in your kid’s diaper…

Ugh, there was a lice outbreak at school last month which we found out about when the kids started scratching their heads. Thanks school! It was horrible.
That picture of the blackbarred nephew is fantastic.

Why’d ya go and put a link to lice? I did not need to see that so close up. I’m not itching, I’m shuddering!
Babboo on the other hand? Can he BE any cuter? Negatory.

What does Babboo’s tshirt say? He has the coolest clothes. I am lucky to put Evan in something that doesn’t reference the words “All Star”.

“Babboo and I made our first solo plane flight. Which sucked balls.” - Can I just say that I love the saying “sucked balls!” The saying “I’m sweating balls” is a close second for me though. When you THINK of what you said, man what an image!
Love your site, I’ve read it for quite awhile, but thought I would wait until delurking week was over to say hi. (I like to go against the grain I guess)

Self: “Don’t click the lice link.”
Daring, Stupid Self: “I had lice once. Let’s see what they look like.”
Self: “Don’t click the lice link.”
Daring, Stupid Self: “Aah just a peek.”
Self: “Doh! Egh! Blech! Scratch scratch scratch.”
Thanks for the image. I owe ya one.
Also, I was laughing out loud at your meal descriptions. Mostly because my mom’s house is the same way. Also because I used to eat brownies for breakfast. (Delicious washed down with an ice cold can of Diet Pepsi, no?) Back to my diet…

I have brownies for breakfast all the time! When I have brownies in the house, that is. One of my favorite things as a kid was when it was someone’s birthday at our house and we could have birthday cake for breakfast until it was gone.
That could have something to do with my ass being the approximate size of the broad side of a barn, but cake is good for breakfast.

I cannot get over the immense cuteness that is Babboo. My heart, it melts!

I had lice once in the fifth grade and my hair was reeee-diculously long. I have never, ever had so much hatred for one tiny, tiny little creature. Blech! It seriously makes my head itch.

I didn’t click the lice link. I’ve seen them. Kind of remind me of an alien creature.
Re; changing poo diapers in airplane aisles… I changed our babies poo diaper in my LAP because of the same reason and the fact that I was going to try to be nice to all the other plane riders and be inconspicuous.
Dumb planes.

I used to love at school when the school nurse would check our hair for lice. If you wore your hair in a braid of some sort, which we all know was a pretty awesome hairstyle, then she’d take it out and rebraid it, and I just felt so special. Things that wouldn’t make me feel special? To actually HAVE lice, so I’m glad that never happened.

Snow! I’m jealous! Oh, and is that kid in the witness protection program or something?

The snow here sucks… a lot. I want it to go away and be spring already.
Head lice is the WORST!!!! I got it when I was in Middle School also, and it was one of the worst and most horrible experiences ever. I hope you don’t have to go through it with Babboo.

I just stripped the pretty new color out of my hair with Nix. My eight year old cousin, who often spends the night, had it two weeks ago.
I’d just stopped itching. Thanks a lot, Isabel!! *scritch, scritch*

[...] While visiting my family last week I picked up the local paper to catch up on the latest small town news. You know, who’s getting married, who’s having babies, who’s having babies with whose husband. (Small towns are gold mines when it comes to stuff like this!) On the cover I saw a picture of the beautiful old church house and instantly the memories started flowing. [...]
