Don’t worry, I’m still aliveSeptember 27th, 2006 @ 7:01 am
I didn’t post yesterday. It wasn’t because Durga killed me. Or tried to run away with Babboo.
Phew.
Durga and her lovely husband Michael were in town from Australia on Monday. And we got to meet. In real life. (Did I mention that they are from Australia? And that we got to meet them?)
I admit to being very nervous about meeting a fellow blogger in real life. Very nervous. I was shaking the entire walk from my work to our meeting point on Monday. Once I saw them waiting on the bench, I got excited. We hugged. I instantly felt all warm and fuzzy inside.

We only were able to spend the evening together before they had to fly out again. It went by fast, but it was still nice. I was excited to hear all about their time in Sri Lanka helping with the tsunami relief efforts. Of course still like that just reminds me how I need to give more.

We even felt safe enough to take them back to our apartment so we could pose for pictures in front of our lamp. (Doh!) Mostly it was because I was bigger than Durga and knew I could take her. Babboo was in love with Durga from the second he heard her enchanting accent and he couldn’t take his eyes off of her perfect skin.
Seriously, the woman is gorgeous.
At the end of the evening Durga told me (and I quote), “you are much livelier in person than on your blog!” I took that as a compliment. Maybe I not as big of a nerd as I think.
In other, very exciting new, I was out of the office yesterday doing inspections at different facilities. Facilities with security measures and inspection escorts. Thus taking “pumping on job” to a whole other level. Gone was my (semi) private closet to pump at. Nope, I had to pump in the middle of the bathroom at said facility. With my inspection escort waiting outside the door for me to finish up. One woman even walked in and said, “It sounds like its milking time!”
This was a complete stranger saying this to me. While I’m just standing there pumping my breast milk for the world to see.
It was not one of my more shinning moments.
(I’m dying to hear if any of you have met internet friends in real life. And how that went for you.)

I can’t believe someone acknowledged your milking sounds. Ahhh! Isn’t there an unspoken rule that you’re supposed to pretend you can’t hear anything unusual in the bathroom?

I have not met any blogging friends in real life YET but every single day it seems I’m finding another one that I connect with and would love to meet and hug and connect with in person. There are SO many amazing people out there that I’m scared I might never meet.
And my gosh, Durga, she IS gorgeous! Any chance you could send her my way so I could not only listen to her but also, just look at her? And is that her husband? Do they have kids? If not, they totally need to b/c can you just imagine how gorgeous they would be?
I’m so excited you got to meet a blogger in real life and that it lived up to your expectations.

Have I met internet friends in real life?
Is the sky blue? Is wine made from grapes?
Thus far no one has tried to kill me, but I’m sure that they contemplate it from time to time.

We met Jen & Cait from http://additionproblems.blogspot.com, back when we were all pregnant. That was fun, and I’m sure we’ll see more of them on future trips to their city.
And we met and became RL friends with the whole clan of http://thebabyjuggler.typepad.com! We are so sad that they moved and will have to be blog friends now.
I hope to get to meet more blog friends over time, and since we travel a fair amount for family and also for work, it seems likely.

I have met many internet friends in real life. Back in 1999 a met a group of about 12 in Chicago for a weekend of fun. We called it the Movie Quoters Convention because we all met in the Yahoo Movie Quote chatroom. It was great. I have many local friends that I have met online through Yahoo groups. I have had a few dates in the past from the internet.
My next goal is to meet some of my blogging friends. There’s you, RSM, and all the other BIFFS that I would love to meet. The one I’ll probably meet first is Stella since she lives in Dallas and I visit there often… but if I’m ever in Seattle… I’m a knockin on your door… provided you give me your address and so forth.

I have never met a blogger friend in real life, but I would! And I am totally stalking you down next year when I come to Seattle, so watch out

I’ve never met anyone in “real life” from blogging but man I sure want to. Not enough to go to Blogher (and then I’d risk seeing my sister - blah!) but maybe we can meet up somewhere, maybe in Savannah GA at The Lady and Sons restaurant?!?!?! ANyone?
You are BOTH B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L!

First things first: everyone in that photo is beautiful. A beautiful people’s convention, clearly.
Second, no I haven’t YET met another real live blogger, although I almost met up with one of my blog visitors in Amsterdam… the timing didn’t work out though. I’d love to attend BlogHer 2007 though to meet up with several of my favorite women!! Not to mention, I’m hitting VEGAS BABY with my Bestest Blogging Friend Ever once we get our butts in gear and she puts down the pump. Because really? Pumping in Vegas? Is that even allowed? KIDDING. You can totally pump, and I promise not to make reference to the sounds of “milking time.”

I haven’t yet met any other bloggers but I think it would be quite fun. When I was a kid I had a penpal who I depserately wanted to meet in person… this blogging world feels like the same kind of thing.

I totally met Jes from chirky.com at the BlogHer convention. I was SOOOOO nervous. I was afraid I’d get to the convention and not be able to find her and I’d end up ALL ALONE.
I even had a dream that I was at the convention and I was looking everywhere for her and then I found her! Except there were 2 of her - one tall and one short. And I didn’t know which one was the the REAL her because I’d never met her in person and therefore didn’t know how tall she was and therefore couldn’t tell the real her from the imposter!!! I woke up in a cold sweat. Am I nuts or what!?
Meeting her was fabulous, by the way. I can’t wait to meet more blog friends!

I am sure that at some point, I will be meeting some bloggers in real life. Because I would like to stop referring to people I meet on-line as internet friends (I toyed with blogging friends but that is too dorky) but as friends. In real fife friends.

Wow, I don’t know how you can do it… I’d be so shy! But Babboo is worth it!
Well, I’ve met Brittany! But then again, she is my boyfriend’s cousin.

I’ve TOTALLY met internet friends in real life. I’m meeting two gals that I know online once we move to Seattle ( feel free to get on that list) and a couple of local gals here. In fact, one of my newest bestest friends is from a random meeting of her husband at a conference and started reading her blog. Now she’s my fave.

Your photos are great, and it looks like you had so much fun!
I have met some internet friends in real life. I’m on a message board with about 40 girls, and I’ve met probably at least 1/3 of them in the past three years, since we started the board.
These girls have evolved from “people I know online” to “people for whom I have boarded an airplane to visit.”
The first time I met one of them, I was sooo nervous, but we wound up having a wonderful time. Since then, I’ve gone to DC once to meet a bunch of them, and some of them have made special trips to visit me.
It’s really strange at first, but once you get over the awkwardness of never having met in person before, it’s so much fun. I now think of many of them as just plain old friends, not internet friends.

I haven’t met any of my blogging friends in real life yet, but I’d love to someday. As for internet friends in general, back in the early internet days of the late 90s I used to talk to a guy on AOL-IM and then one day I happened to run into him in person at Blockbuster…it was weird…and I married him.

“Maybe I not as big of a nerd as I think.”
Erm, yes you are. Ha ha Kidding! Isabel, I love you! But don’t tell The King. I wouldn’t want to be the cause of marital discord. Anyway, is it The King or just the King? I can never remember.
I have never met any blogging friends in real life. BUT my brother-in-law and his cool wife are moving to Seattle in February! So of course we will be going up to visit them. Maybe we can hook up then! Because I would love to pat Babboo’s adorable cheeks in person!
And wow. Maybe I am developing a girl crush on Durga. She is gorgeous.
