Not to be confused with T&ASeptember 18th, 2006 @ 7:01 am
It sounds like The King is a hit. I knew he would be. He’ll be back this Friday with more awesomeness. I think he may tackle the tough questions you had for him, like “how did you get into modeling for the Home Depot?”
But before he starts working on this week’s post I’m going to make him translate the German in the beginning of the new Justin Timberlake video. (I personally think it says something like “I’m leaving Cameron for you Isabel.”)
Have you seen the video for Sexyback? I downloaded it this morning and had to watch it in 4 different sessions. I was just getting too worked up to watch it all in one setting. Because damn, that boy is hott. And the video is even hotter.
It’s Monday, which means we are back to our regular programming of Q&A. (not to be confused with T&A.)
TVGoddess asked a question that got me all excited since it’s about some of my favorite things. But since they are all favorites, it is hard to answer. Her question is:
If you had to choose only one entertainment medium (TV, movies, books, plays, music, Podcasts, etc.) to have for the rest of your life, what would it be?
I love TVGoddess and all that she stands for, which is mostly TV. And I love me some TV. But as for choosing my one favorite entertainment medium, well that’s just crazy talk.
My first thought is, RADIO. I would choose radio. (I am super into podcasts right now, but they are essentially radio that you can listen to at any time, right?)
Radio has everything you need. It has music, which we all love. And it has talk. Which I love. I’ve had an ongoing love affair with National Public Radio, more specifically certain weekend programs like Wait, Wait Don’t Tell Me and This American Life. (This weekend’s This American Life was an extra fabulous one. One that I found myself laughing and crying to. It’s called “Unconditional Love” and you can listen to it FOR FREE on their website. I highly suggest it.)
You can get your news and your entertainment from radio. It really can’t be beat.
But guess what? If I only had to choose one, I wouldn’t choose radio. Why not? Because if I were sitting on the beach all by myself for the rest of my life, I would want to have book. And lots of them. Books, books, and more books. I would want books about Boy Wizards, books about Jesus, books about trivia, books about celebrity gossip, books about American history, and books about my family.
In books you can learn about new things, escape your own life, read and see pictures of far away places, and lose yourself in a different world.
What do you think you would choose? (see, it’s hard!)
The next question comes from Durga who lives over in Australia.
When are moving to Sydney Australia to be with me?
Guess what. I don’t have to move to Australia to see Durga. Guess why.
Because Durga (and her husband) are coming to Seattle to meet me (and Babboo and The King) NEXT WEEK.
NEXT WEEK!
Okay, they really aren’t coming to the States just to meet me. They are traveling around and are able to come to Seattle for the day. So we’re going to meet up for dinner. Oh my gosh, I’m going to actually meet a blogger in real life.
(I’m sort of freaking out about the whole thing. I mean, what if they think I’m weird? What if they think Babboo’s too fussy? What if they don’t like the way I part my hair, or how I talk?! I mean, this could get ugly!)
It will be nice to meet Durga. She’s so lovely. And she has such a great accent. I imagine only the first few minutes will be awkward. After that I’m sure we’ll have loads to talk about.
Lisa B., who shares my love for all things Dairy Queen, asked:
Do you remember your first DQ Blizard? What kind was it? What did you think at the time? Did you ever try the “Breeze” (low-fat Blizards) And what is your favoritest Blizard flavor in the whole wide world?
I seriously can’t remember the first time I had a Blizzard. I do remember that the only DQ was at the local mall when I was in high school. My Mom LOVES Dairy Queen also, so when we went to the mall we would stop there. I’ve always been partial to the Reeses Blizzard. Although when I was pregnant I started betting the Snickers one. It did NOT disappoint.
Since having Babboo I’ve probably only had 2 or 3 Blizzards and they’ve been the Reeses ones. My folks are coming out to visit in a few weeks, so I imagine my Mom and I will make a few runs to DQ (it’s about 2 blocks from our apartment).
I’ve never even hear of the Breeze’s. Lowfat, really? They don’t have them out here, or I would be eating them. I did have a Nerd flavored one once, and it was yummy. But I’ve never seen that flavor offered again.
My favoritest Blizard flavor in the whole wide world? Reeses. (But I haven’t tried them all, so that can change at any time.)
What is your favoritest Blizzard flavor in the whole wide world?
Christar asked when I think I’ll have another baby. I answered that one last week in response to a different question. So you can read that here. (Christar came back and asked another question, which we’ll get to later!)
Janet (who is getting married in Mexico in less then 2 months) asked:
What do you like/dislike the most about yourself? (Not necessarily a physical trait, but more like personality or something like that.) Don’t be shy!
The vain person in me automatically things something like “my nose”, or “my hair”, but I don’t think that’s what Janet was looking for. So let’s go a little deeper then that.
I don’t like that I have a hard-ish time in social settings. I get all clammy and nervous and end up saying totally idiotic things like “that shirt makes you look fat!” (I may be exaggerating!) But since I know I do this, I try to over compensate, which makes me seem even more idiotic. Which is worse and makes me look even dumber (more dumb?). And then nobody wants to be my friend, or hang out with me again.
So if I could change this, I would. My dream would be to just float into a dinner party and be able to glide around the room making pleasant conversation with everyone there without feeling nervous. (What’s with the floating and the gliding? Did I somehow become an angel?)
What would you change, if you could?
Haggalicious (who just had the most perfect little baby and is also moving into her new house) asked two questions:
1- If you could be a professional athlete, what would that sport be?
This is very hard, since I’m not into sports at all. But my gut response to this question is; figure skating. I love to watch figure skating.
Oh wait, is there a professional sport for those alpine slide things they have in Park City, Utah? If so, then that’s what I’d want to do professionally. I’d go really fast and wear cute little pink skirts and pink shoes. And I’d totally wear a pink visor to keep the sun out of my eyes. I might even wear argyle knee highs.
(how did this question turn into what I’d wear if I was a professional athlete?)
2- What is your favorite season?
Summer.
I hate every other season because it is not summer.
(and that is why I need to move to Hawaii, where it summer all the time.)
————————
We must stop now. But have no fear; we are getting to the really juicy questions, so you must come back.
Plus it’s almost Friday. And we all know what that means.

My favorite blizzard flavor is chocolate chip cookie dough. To me, the combination of cookie dough and ice cream is one of the best things in the entire world.
Reeses is very securely in second place, though.

My favorite blizzards are the key lime pie one and any of the cheesecake ones. We only have one DQ in town and it’s in the bad section, but we do have a “Tasty Freeze” and their version of the blizzard is just as yummy. They’re only open for the summer, and may be the main culprit behind the recent gaining of a couple of pounds. But damn, they’re too good to pass up.

Reese’s blizzards are my favorite, but the cookie dough is a close second. However, I like it with vanilla ice cream, not chocolate. There is such a thing as too much chocolate.
Also, I would totally pick books, too.

I know what you mean about wanting to be able to say the right things in social settings. I have the same exact problem! I wish I could be the person everyone liked and I could say the neat jokes… but instead I am a dork and say dumb things.
I actually used to be a Figure Skater! I took lessons for 4 years! I can still spin, haha.
That’s so neat that you get to meet a blogger! Next time you come to Utah, maybe you could meet up with Britt and me! That would be neato!

Why only DQ a few times since the arrival of Babboo? Does he not like DQ (like he gets fussy or rashy if you eat it)?

Had to laugh at King’s “No Dairy Queen.” thing. heehee.
I hope you and Durga have a fun time when she comes to visit. I can’t wait to hear all about it! And thanks for answering my question.
Oh do you guys have Culver’s there? If not, OH MY! I hate to say this, but their frozen custard creations are even bette than Blizzards!

The King doesn’t want Isabel to get fat I guess…
The only DQ we have in town is inside the shopping mall and I don’t like to go there unless I’m shopping… and if I’m shopping I don’t want to be eating ice cream… but I love the Banana Pudding Blizzard… soooo good.
But ice cream is probably my number one downfall and about 50% of the reason why I am fat.

How funny that you mentioned the Alpine Slide because two nights ago I dreamed I was on it-all pregnant and everything. I’m sure that’s a big no-no. I love that you would wear a skirt, but you’ll have to strategicaly plan your panties, too, since your skirt will fly up in your face all Marilyn Monroe-like. May I audition for your team?

Oh my, so much to comment on.
1)Justin. Oh Justin. Why oh why did I not go see him when he was here last Friday? WHY!? Sooo hot, want to touch the hiney. And Sexy Back, that song and video make (and I will resort to something Frema said in her last post) my girly parts get all tingly and stuff. Or something like that. She said it better and it cracked me up. Only she was speaking of hardwood floors. I am speaking of JT. Yummy.
2)Speaking of yummy. M&M is my favorite Blizzard. Vanilla ice cream with two pumps of chocolate syrup. Mmmmmm.
3) You are meeting a blogger! I’m so jealous and so nervous for you b/c I totally know you are nervous, as I would be.
4) Social settings? I’m a complete disaster. Mainly b/c I lost some hearing in one of my ears as a child due to a really bad ear infection that resulted in tubes so I tend to talk really, really loud b/c if I don’t talk loud, I can’t hear myself talk so I think no one else can hear me. I can’t tell you the number of times people have told me to use my “inside voice.” But I don’t think I have one. It’s pretty pathetic.

i loooooove DQ Blizzards. i could seriously eat one every single day if there wasn’t the whole weight issue. but i digress. my absolute favorite Blizzard is the Brownie Batter Blizzard. i have to be in the right mood for it, though; that’s a lot of chocolate!

I feel exactly the same about summer. Any season that is not summer is lame. I’ve been walking around saying how much I hate Autumn. I don’t really hate Autumn for it being Autumn, but because it means that summer is over.
Is the rain here to stay?
