“We’re Country”

I know it’s raining back East. You guys are having crazy weather. People aren’t able to get into work. People are dying. It’s scary. And super odd.

But here in Seattle, it’s a heat wave. I admit to using that term lightly. Mostly a “heat wave” in Seattle means you don’t have to wear your jacket in June. I totally walked to work on Monday sans jacket. This may have been the first time ever. I kid you not.

But this week it’s hot. Freakin’ hot. As in, please don’t make me wear actual clothes. Of course our AC unit is in the bedroom, which is not where I work, when I’m working from home (like today). Babboo and I are suffering in the front room. The heat from the laptop is making it all ever hotter. It is making me miss the sweet, sweet AC at the office.

I’m pretty sure that any East Coasters/Southerners are rolling their eyes and saying, you don’t know what real heat is.

And you are probably right. Although we did spend our honeymoon in Vegas. In August. Can you say, 116 degree weather? I loved it. (We’ll talk about my Vegas obsession another day.)

For now, Babboo is adjusting to the heat as best he can. I have been forced to dress him a little “country”, as Britney would say. Yes, I have my own little Sean Preston. But’s Babboo much more adorable, right?

I’m thinking that we may have to spend our lunch break down at the pool again. Babboo seemed to like it to much on Monday.

And I might have to have ice cream for lunch.

All you guys on the East Coast, how are you dealing with this rain? Do you feel bad for us Seattleites (is that the correct word?) and the non stop rain we get in the winter months? It gets old fast, doesn’t it?

Nah, I actually like the rain…except when people forget how to drive because the road is wet, but that’s another post all together.

There is no way I could ever live in Seattle. I can’t handle rain that often.
    That shirt is hilarious.
Isabel, he looks just like you. You and The King made a beautiful baby.

OMG, that is such a cute baby outfit. It IS country and I love it. EAT THE ICE CREAM. It will make up for the heat. The only reason us southerners can stand the heat is because 99% of us have central air. If it’s over 80 degrees, the AC is on.

I hope you ate the ice cream.
    I looooove the shirt, too.

The rain here sucks…I’ve had more than enough. Today the sun finally broke through, and I was about to whisk Jojo into the stroller when I realized that the rain had NOT stopped. So it was sunny and rainy for a good 10 minutes before the sun went back into hiding. Too bad it can’t take the humidity with it. moist. blech. I am trying to feel bad for you living in Seattle with the rain, but you have good shopping, good restaurants, and fresh seafood…so nah, no pity.

A heat wave is ABSOLUTELY a legitmate reason for having ice cream for lunch. Absolutely.

I’m getting married in August in Vegas! On the 5th! On top of the Stratosphere! I can’t wait! Then we’re going to try and get pregnant! And have our own little sweet babboo! Could I use anymore exclamation points? Probably.

LOVE the photos you’ve got. Love Babboo’s crazy hair. So adoreable. Oh and of the ones in the pool, and of the ones hanging out, oh and of the one of you and The King, and oh, you get the picture (pun intended - I’m such a dork!)

    Heat wave?! Heat wave????

Too hot to go outside here, period. I live all summer either in a frigid pool or in the batcave (our house with all the blinds tightly drawn so no sunlight gets in because otherwise our air conditioning has trouble keeping up). You want country, it’s hanging out at home June through August in a t shirt and underwear, putting on actual clothes only when the doorbell rings, sipping icy drinks all day long

Cute, cute photos of Babboo, btw.

LOL, that’s what they said on the news about your heat wave. That YOU guys are the ones that usually have the rain. It has been pretty interesting with the floods and the thunderstorms and the lightning (last Thursday night was the worst thunderstorm I’ve EVER seen) so it’s not just constant gray-sky drizzle. But it has gotten old and we are thrilled to see the sun and start some evaporation.

Nothing wrong with a little white trash :).

I’m not exactly on the east coast, more the interior South, so we haven’t seen any rain, matter of fact we just ended a drought a couple of days ago. My parents are in Myrtle Beach, SC and they’ve had great weather too. As for the “heatwave” in Seattle, as a lifelong Southerner I am definitely used to 90-100 degree weather in the summer months; clothing is optional in my house. But I must say that I’m not rolling my eyes about your Seattle heat; it’s always been my opinion that once it gets to about 85 it’s all the same…I feel no difference between 85 and 95…once my upper lip starts to sweat and my shirts start sticking to my back INSIDE the house with the a/c ON there’s really no point in looking at the thermometer anymore.

He looks adorable in his white trash outfit, although I was expecting just a diaper. I saw that the weather was going to be a little cooler today, so I hope you guys are enjoying a break from the heat.

I think he looks very adorable in the diaper and the shirt. Although here, when it gets really hot in the summer, all the babies are just in diapers. So, I’m used to seeing it.

Great pictures, Isabel! Your old house was SO cute! Great job decorating! The kid looks precious. And yes, the rain DID get old fast. I think it may be over now though…thank god. I love a nice rainy day, but this was ridiculous.

Like you and Britney, we got a little WT during the heat wave. I let Baby E hang out in just her diaper. It was frickin hot, man! It was like 105 down here!
