Was I the only one that didn’t follow?May 10th, 2006 @ 4:29 pm
I wasn’t sure if I even wanted to admit this. But I must.
I watch 7th Heaven.
There I said it.
But in my defense, I hate it. And I’ve only watched it this season. I know nothing, really, about the show. Just what’s happened this season. And it’s a train wreck.
(TV Goddess, don’t shun me for admitting this. Please tell me you’ll still be my friend.)
This week was the Series Finale. As in, the last 7th Heaven. Ever. Which is really a good thing. I think the show’s been on for like fifteen years, or something like that. It was time to end. Hell, it was probably time ten years ago.
Okay, so I’ve admitted I watch the darn show. And I admit that I don’t really like it. Now I need to admit that I’m not really sure what the finale was even about. Yes, it’s still saved on my TiVo. And yes. I plan on watching it again. You know, just to make sure I didn’t miss anything.
Did you see it?
(This is probably the part where I should announce an upcoming spoiler. But seriously…nobody watches the show, so I doubt I’m spoiling it for anyone.)
Dude-they ended the show by having everyone be pregnant. And not just pregnant. But pregnant with twins. Three of the freakin’ Camden kids are having twins. Right. Like what are the odds of that? I don’t think that has ever happened in the history of the world.
I was happy that Simon didn’t marry Rose. At least I don’t think he married her. They didn’t really come right out and say it. They just alluded to it. And I’m not smart enough to follow the very tricky writers on the WB. (Hey, I have a new baby. I’m not sleeping too much these days. Cut me some slack!) Did you see who Rose didn’t marry Simon for? Umberto, who? What a tool. If life was based on looks alone (and I’m sure it is), Simon could totally kick Umberto’s butt. Blah.
And Jessica Biel really came back for that episode? I hope they paid her well. I started watching the show long after Mary left, so I didn’t really know what was going on there. But she’s pregnant. With twins. And I think her ex husband is the one that knocked her up. (I won’t even mention that this show is about a very religious family. I’m not ready to discuss that with the Internet.)
And one last thing…so, is Simon the father of the Haylie Duff’s baby? The one that we thought Martin was the father of? (Martin, who is super hot, was not on the series finale. What’s up with that?)
Now, last night’s “Veronica Mars” was another story. SO AWESOME.
(And because I know that most of you actually watch that show, I will not spoil it for you. All I will say is what you all ready know: I. Love. Logan. That’s it.)

I’m a little embarrassed that I still watch 7th Heaven too…but not only that, I’ve watched for all ten seasons. Yes, I just put that in writing for all the world to read. The only thing that wasn’t clear to me was the whole Simon/Sandy baby thing. I have to assume that the baby is his after all, and that maybe Ruthie will get a date Martin in the end. Oh, and Umberto…good grief, could they have found anyone more ugly.
Ah..Veronica and Logan…that finale was sweet. Thank goodness they didn’t leave us hanging as to whether or not they’d be together or whether or not her father was dead. I guess next season will begin with the whole Duncan/Aaron Eckols thing. Did Wallace stay in NY?? Did anyone see it coming with you know who as the bus crash killer?? That show always surprises me.

I cooled off a friendship once when I learned JAG was her favorite show.
Let me sleep on this news of yours. Kidding. I hope you get your questions answered.

I used to watch it, but lately all I seem to see is the reality based shows. But I totally was going to watch that episode, but I fell asleep. Thanks for the update and how it went though.

I feel like I have mentioned this on the internets before, but I totally watched 7th heaven in college with my roomies. In fact, one roomie watched it in her room secretly like half the year until she realized that Hello? the other 5 of us were watching in the living room together and really, there was No Shame.
Also, I can’t wait for VM season 2 on DVD. Hurry hurry!!!

I love t.v. show confessions. I will confess to having never watched 7th Heaven, but to having repeatedly watched “Laguna Beach” and “8th and Ocean.”

I used to watch 7th Heaven, had seen every episode. Then Lucy had her baby and I couldn’t stand to watch it anymore. Maybe I’ll pick up the last 2 seasons on DVD some day. It seems a waste to have watched all but those.

I agree with Anna, after Lucy had the baby, and that whole Simon storyline where he hit someone with his car… I go totally bored with the show. But I still tuned in once in a while just to see thing. But I don’t think I watched more then 4 episodes this season and I surely did not see the series finale… but man that used to be like my favorite show.
Now, my favorite show is Veronica Mars bitches! Oh and Nip/Tuck.

I’ve never been able to handle 7th Heaven. But I like Britney Spears. We all have our dirty little secrets.

Thanks for the recap. I used to watch 7th Heaven, but finally decided it was too stupid to waste my time on. I haven’t seen it in several months. It sounds like the ending was as lame as ever.
By the way, my maternal grandmother had three sets of twins (back in the farm days before fertility treatments). I was soooooooooooo happy to see a single heartbeat on my first sonogram. What do people do with twins!

I also watch Seventh Heaven. And I hate it. HATE HATE HATE IT. I watch it so I can hate it more. But I haven’t kept up with the new episodes since Lucy had the baby. I think I heard her say “We named her Savannah because that’s where she was conceived” and I threw up all over the place at the mental image of Lucy Camden having sex. Also, the show went downhill when Ashlee Simpson went off it. I had no idea Haylie Duff was on it now! I must now go and rent the DVDs! The reruns on ABC Family are classic though. 6pm! I watch it at the gym all the time. The hatred fuels me to go faster on the elliptical.
I just happened to be flipping around on the TV when the finale was on, so fortunately I saw it, because I dont have a Tivo (I know, I know). I missed a couple parts because I was also simultaneously cooking dinner downstairs… and at the end I was thinking the same thing… is that supposed to be Simon’s kid? Was that the happy ending to 7th Heaven? Hooray, Simon’s not married because he has a baby with another chick that he’s not married to? And this show passes itself off as “wholesome” television?? I wrote a whole long blog post of my own about it, although I was a little bit embarrased to admit to the internet that I actually watch the show.
The “everyone is having twins” thing made me want to puke. It must be part of the Camden family plot to take over the world through irresponsible reproductive practices.
And Umberto? Not only was he hideous and fat, they named him Umberto? Gah!
I’m not ashamed to say that I will miss 7th Heaven. After 10 years on the air (since 1996!) it will be hard to find another show as wonderfully awful.

Too bad it really wasn’t the last episode, huh?
Also, too bad I didn’t see this when you actually wrote this because I was on my FABULOUS vacation.
I’ll still be your friend, even though I don’t agree with you about the VM finale either. My friendship rises above taste in TV, though, so you’re safe!
I preferred the Beav as a disturbed victim rather than being a moustache-twirling psychopath. They crossed a line there that I don’t think was realistic and it’s what I like to call “character assassination.”
Did you read my latest column? It covers it a bit. And there is, of course, my post about the finale.
