Things I have learned this weekApril 25th, 2006 @ 8:26 pm
Things I have learned in the last week:
- I can do more than I thought I could with just one free hand.
- Feeding a newborn is the time equivalent of a full time job (and why doesn’t anyone talk about that?) The pay sucks.
- Breastfeeding is easy. I’ve figured out how to succeed at it. Don’t read anything about it before hand. That’s right. Go into it knowing nothing and expecting nothing. And you’re baby will suck like no other. And it will be awesome.
- I am not so good at getting the “thank you” cards out. I used to be good at it. No so much anymore. (But that doesn’t mean I’m any less appreciative of all the wonderful people in our lives!)
- The King continues to rock my world. And he will be missed while he’s in Arizona for his best friends wedding this week. (Please pray that I can handle it alone. All praise for single Mom’s everywhere!)
- The Baby is really into Raffi. Specifically “Baby Beluga”, which is the only Raffi song I know. I sang it to him when I was pregnant and he seems to remember it. And likes it.
- The human body is amazing. The changes I have gone through in the last 10 months are just amazing. I went from huge to not so huge. It’s odd to deal with the ever changing body. For some reason I can’t seem to get my mind around it.
- The Baby wears no less than six outfits a day. Let’s not even talk about the number of diapers he goes through. Good thing they are free. Oh, they aren’t? Crap.
- Sleep? Who needs it? Not me….I guess.
- I love my little family. And am looking forward to our future together.
(and I’m currently feeding The Baby, blogging, and watching Veronica Mars. Dude, are VM and Logan finally getting back together? TV Goddess, please tell me it’s true!)

I love your blog. Congrats again on the extremely handsome baby.
P.S. I too am crossing my fingers for a Logan/Veronica reunion!

Hey now, don’t spill any VM beans. I’m still at work! Will watch tonight. (But I know no secrets that you don’t.)
Do you know what I learned this week? That I MISS YOU When you’re not around the Web.
Also, you are hilarious with “The pay sucks.” I assume you meant the baby is the pay and it sucks, right? Because you’re a riot.
You can make it for a short time without the King. I know it. But if not, I will drive up to Seattle and help you (don’t hold me to that, though; I’m going to New York next week and have to pack and prepare!)

OMG, I’m happy for you, but breastfeeding is NOT easy for everybody, whether you read about it beforehand or not. I read basically nothing about it and assumed it’d come natural…it didn’t…but we’re still hacking it out.
Oh, it did look like Veronica and Logan were on the verge of reuniting a few weeks ago when they danced at the end of the episode…but I’m not sure…haven’t watched tonight’s episode yet. If they do get back together I’m sure Duncan will show up just in time to screw it up.

Wow, you are amazing! I can only hope to be as adept as you so early on. It sounds like you will be just fine without the King, and I’m sure there are some ‘bloggers’ *ahudder* near you that would love to help out if you need it!

Yah he’s pretty cute

And I agree it sure is a full time job! (multiply mine by 4 now, ugh) anyway, you’ll do fine without the king. Congrats again on such a sweet boy.
Oh, glad breastfeeding came so good for you too. Take care

I’m glad to hear that things seem to be going so well so far. He looks like a long, lean baby - and he’s just too cute!

Adorable picture! And your post just glows. I’m so happy for you, Isabel.
Lucky you for having an easy time with the breastfeeding. That was not at all the case for me

He gets cuter with every picture!!
Hopefully if I ever get a chance to breastfeed it will go as smoothly. None of my friends have had an easy time of it!!

Glad the breastfeeding is going so well. Just tell me it’s painless, too, and I’m all for it.

It’s nice to have you back Isabel. Is your baby wearing that cute onesie from Old Navy with the little chics on it? I totally bought that one for myself. I don’t have kids yet, but by God he/she will wear when I do. And I bought the little blue froggy one for my cousin. She had a boy last month. Anyways… as far as VM goes… I fear it may be too good to be true. Stupid Logan and stupid Kendall bitch!

I love your blog, too. Congratulations. You will never be so adored as you are by your son.
And mine’s only 5 weeks old.
Glad to hear breastfeeding came easy for you, I’m still struggling.

Wait until six more months from now when your baby is a totally different person and your body looks like it never gave birth at all. THAT is amazing!

I heard somewhere that if a Stay-at-Home Mom got paid what she would get paid at an actual job, the average would be $120,000 per year. If only! If only!

I’m so glad breastfeeding is going well for you. People always say that “all” babies do is eat, sleep, and poop — but those are pretty darn important! I’m glad The Baby is cooperating. Mostly.

Good for you on the breastfeeding success! I had barely any problems at all either, except for sore nipples. Good luck while King is gone

Now that I’ve seen it, I will say that, no, they aren’t getting back together yet. I think that will hang for a few season — but if it doesn’t come back, that’s a huge huge downer, isn’t it?

Congrats Again! You are very lucky the breastfeeding is easy for you. It was very rough for me for about the first 2 months, then it became wonderful. Hence, still nursing after 2 years!

“Breastfeeding is easy.”
I’m not even a mom and I thought to myself - well she’s damn lucky. Because the internets breeds breastfeeding horror stories. Congrats on the baby!

I love Logan (he’s so hilariously nasty), but I think Veronica needs to be single a while longer. Why are there only two possible boyfriends for her in Neptune, anyway?
I’m glad everyhthing’s going well for you & baby boy. He’s adorable!

You’re making motherhood look like it would be somewhat enjoyable. Why are you doing this to me??? You’re making me want babies!

Some things you just find out the hard way…or through experience. Kids are pretty amazing arent they? Oh, and the multiple outfit thing? It’ll get better.
