No title will do it justiceNovember 17th, 2005 @ 3:11 pm

There is no clever way to put it. No funny story to tell. And no pictures to post with it (yet).
It’s a boy, baby!
And we love him even more then ever.

19.5 week belly picturesNovember 17th, 2005 @ 7:52 am

I “worked from home” yesterday so that I could take Preston to the groomers. He was black listed after a previous “incident”. The King was able to get him back in their good graces. We still felt like one of us should stick around in case something happened. I am happy to report that nothing happened (except that he totally let them comb out all of his mats and bathe him). He looks like a whole new kitty. We figure he lost about 3 pounds in fur. Seriously he looks great. This was about the only picture I could get of him last night. He loves to sit on the toilet seat and watch me get ready. But he won’t do it for The King.
We finally found the camera last night. Living out of boxes is getting pretty old. We just need to find places to put everything. Going from a 3 bedroom/3 bathroom house to a 1 bedroom/1 bathroom apartment is hard, people.
So here is my belly, as of last night. Of course the belly grows in the evening and shrinks back in the morning. I am not sure why. Maybe it has to do with the tides. Or something.

Today is the big ultrasound. The King and I discussed finding out the gender (again) last night. He decided that we can find out, but he really doesn’t want to tell anyone. He just wants this whole pregnancy to be very private. I figure that when my Mom calls me tonight to find out, I’ll just have to tell her that they couldn’t tell. I don’t think she’ll buy that excuse, but she’s smart enough not to prod me into telling her.

What do you think they talk about?November 15th, 2005 @ 10:08 am
I read this story today about how this women was the “cool mom” and having parties for underage boys where she provided the booze and drugs (and apparently she provided a little more than just that).

Now, I can appreciate a high school guy. But that doesn’t mean I want to throw them parties and get them drunk (and seduce them).
Then I saw this story about a 37 year old women getting married to a fifteen year old. Who had knocked her up. The kicker? They’ve been together for 2 years. Please tell me what they talk about when they are sitting alone at home together? Does she take him school clothes shopping and help him with his homework?
I’m at a loss.

Think I’m big now?November 14th, 2005 @ 3:04 pm

Like most pregnant women, I am signed up to receive weekly updates on my pregnancy. To be honest I don’t always look at them very closely. I do always forward them to The King.
I just received the update “My Pregnancy This Week - 19 weeks”, and this is what I read:
“Think you’re big now? You’ll start growing even more rapidly in the weeks to come. This added weight may make it hard for you to keep up your regular pace without taking a catnap during the day.”
This is just going to be perfect for our trip to Europe next week. I was already nervous about slowing the group down. Now I am really nervous. I have traveled with The King a lot and I know the pace in which he likes to travel…fast. No time for breaks, no time for naps, no sleeping in. Just walking all day. Under any other circumstances I would be just fine with this. But lugging this belly around isn’t going to be easy.
I am shopping for support hose on my way home from work today.
(Oh, and that is NOT a picture of my belly. I’ll try to post some this week!)

A tourist in my own cityNovember 14th, 2005 @ 10:05 am

When I was a kid my Mom loved being a tourist in our own state. We went to Zion National Park every year. My Dad loved to visit the town of Grafton, where “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” was filmed. They used real houses in the filming and you could totally go and tour around them. This picture is of us in 1988 in the school house where Katherine Ross was a teacher in the movie. Eventually, some drunk high school kids burned the whole town down.
I remember one time when I was about 19 we went to the State Capital and did all the usual tourist things one weekend. It was great. We visited historic sites, the zoo, and ate in local type restaurants. It was cheesy, but fun. And really, who does stuff like that? I think my Mom had great for sight in having us do that. (I also feel like she made us afraid to go out of our comfort zone and visit “new” places, but that’s another post).
This brings us to this past weekend. The King and I woke up on Saturday morning with.nothing.to.do! Did you hear me Internet, NOTHING. No trim to paint, no doors to sand, no yard to weed, or leaves to rake. Oh the joys of apartment living. Something we hadn’t experienced in about 4 years.
This may not be as delicious sounding to you as it is to me, but I stayed in my pajamas until noon. This has only happened 2 times in the past few years and both times were the result of a D&C. The King and I laid around on the couch and watched TV. Eventually The King got in the showered and I unpacked three boxes (three down, fifteen to go).
We had a few things to buy, so we headed outside to see if we could find a store to buy them in (because I didn’t want to drive to IKEA and deal with the Saturday IKEA crowd). All I can say is, living in downtown rocks my world. We walked to Bed, Bath, and Beyond to buy a new utensil case for our kitchen drawer, Macy’s to look for some new maternity clothes (still all too big for me), and bought a new battery for our phone at Office Depot.
In between all of the glorious shopping we walked to the library and hung out for a while reading book on our upcoming trip to Europe (which we leave for in a week and a half!). We also got some yummy hot cocoa to keep our little fingers warm.
We had some lunch and decided it was time to go back home. No getting our car out of the parking garage and driving back to our house. No, we just simply walked a few blocks to our fabulous apartment. I felt like we were just staying in an hotel. It was very odd. But very cool.
This is good for The King, as his dream is to live in a hotel, just like Dylan McKay.
Now if we could just figure out a way to have the maid service bring up fresh towels and mints everyday, then we’d be set.
