And they said it wouldn’t lastAugust 12th, 2005 @ 12:03 pm

Yesterday equaled five years that I have been married. Five years, suckas. That’s a long time. The day before was my in-laws THIRTY SEVENTH anniversary. I can’t even imagine that. I e-mailed my father in law to congratulate him and he said:
“You are a special addition to the family!”
He’s extra cute. I told The King about his comment and he said “yea, he likes you, but he doesn’t like that you don’t like to work”. I guess this stems from me always trying to sneak naps in while we were building our first house while I left the two of them to WORK THEIR BUTTS OFF. They used to send me off to other rooms in the house with non-important tasks. Like painting the doors. They were always saying “hey, why don’t you go and paint the doors”. This was fine for me because it meant I would be alone and listen to my headphones without a care in the world.
Fast forward to a few months ago when we were actually going to hang the doors (yes, 2.5 years into us actually living in the house). I had to take the doors in the garage and sand down the MILLION layers of previous paint and START THE FREAK OVER. It sucked. Bad. I got it done and the doors look awesome. Thank you very much.
So yeah-the anniversary. This is depressing, but I guess after 5 years you don’t need to make a big hoopla. I *thought* about making The King a card. Didn’t happen. He did give me one, though. One that I had made to send to my Mom a long time ago.
Then we sat on the couch and he farted a little bit and read his new Esquire magazine. I put on some decent shoes and we headed out to get some dinner. We went to this newer place in Seattle. It is in a building that used to have concerts for old hair bands. I could just taste the sweat from Quiet Riot and Motley Crue. Actually, the place looks great. The food was good (I had pizza, if you must know and The King had some shrimp pasta). Afterwards we walked around a bit (we actually couldn’t remember where we had parked our car-I guess we are both getting old). We went downtown and walked around some more there.
Downtown Seattle is so great in the summertime. People out and about. Shops keep their doors open and you either hear their thumping music (thanks, Ambercrombie) or smell their goodies (thank Sephora). We had to stop get my laptop from my office so I could WORK FROM HOME today. Yummy.
I got up and dressed this morning all ready to meet the family and head to the outlet mall today. But then work called me in and here I am sitting at my desk. At work. One the day I should be WORKING FROM HOME. I am sure the twins will miss having me around today. I know I am going to miss shopping…I mean miss the babies.
So, I guess what I am trying to say is that the anniversary was nice. And today sucks. End of story. Thanks for listening.
The King
